DAY 1 : BANGKOK - PHITSANULOKE (L, D)
Depart from hotels in Bangkok to Bang-Pa-In to visit the former Summer
Palace of the Rama Kings. The tour continues onto the historic city of
Ayutthaya to visit the Unesco-rated world heritage site of ancient ruins,
temples, plus a museum detailing the history of the ancient capital city
of Siam. Lunch en route at a local Thai restaurant. We then continue onto
Lopburi for a visit to the temples and museums, and then visit Phitsanuloke.
Arrival at the hotel late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the Amarin
Lagoon Hotel.
DAY 2 : PHITSANULOKE - LAMPANG (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the hotel, followed by an 8am check-out to visit
to the fascinating folklore museum created by Dr. Thavee-Pim. We then
visit the ancient towns of Sukhothai, Sri Satchanalai and a museum detailing
the rich history and heritage of this province, and the former satellite
city of Sukhothai. Lunch is en route at local Thai restaurant. We then
continue onto lush and green Lampang. Dinner and overnight at the Lampang
River Lodge.
DAY 3 : LAMPANG - CHIANGMAI (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the Lodge, then coach journey to Chiang Mai, with
a visit to the White Karen hill tribes and Wat Haripoonchai in Lampoon
en route. Lunch at a local restaurant. We then visit the Home Industries
Village at Bo Sang and San Kam Phaeng - a major centre of industries such
as cotton, traditional local crafts, Burmese antiques, hill tribe handicrafts,
hand-woven silk and cotton and wood carvings. Guests will have the opportunity
to shop at the many stores selling these products. Dinner and overnight
at the Chiangmai Plaza Hotel.
DAY 4 : CHIANG MAI (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the hotel. We then visit one of most revered temples
in Chiang Mai: Wat Doi Suthep, located high in the mountains, to enjoy
a panoramic view of the hilly Chiang Mai area. Lunch at the hotel. The
afternoon is at leisure for guests to explore "The Rose of the North".
In the evening we offer a typical Kantoke dinner, in which local cuisine
will be complemented by shows and performances by the traditional hill
tribes of northern Thailand. An alternative option is to enjoy the daily
night bazaar in the heart of Chiang Mai to try out bargaining skills at
the abundance of shops and stalls.
DAY 5 : CHIANGMAI - CHIANG RAI (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the hotel. Depart from Chiang Mai to visit an elephant
training camp at Mae Ping (no ride included, optional) to see how these
magnificent beast were once used in the logging industry. We then head
for Fang and Thaton. Lunch is at a local restaurant in Thaton. We then
embark on an exciting four-hour long tail speedboat trip to Chiang Rai,
stopping along the way to see the various hill tribe villages. Return
to the boat pier of the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Dusit Island
Resort.
DAY 6 : CHIANG RAI - BANGKOK (B, L)
American breakfast at hotel. Early morning transfer from hotel to Mae
Chan to visit hill tribes. Then continue onto Mae Sai, an interesting
trading town. We then visit the exact spot where Thailand, Laos and Burma
meet, known as The Golden Triangle. Lunch at the Imperial Golden Triangle
Resort and then transfer to visit the historical city of Chiang Saen.
Transfer to Chiang Rai Airport for flight TG 141 (15:50 - 17:05 hrs) for
Bangkok. Connect to International Airport or transfer to hotel.
