DAY 1 : BANGKOK – SUKHOTHAI (L, D)
Pick up clients from various hotels in Bangkok and transfer to airport
for flight PG 600 (09:10-10:20 hrs) to Sukhothai. Welcome by guide and
transfer to the Paylin Hotel for check-in and lunch. In the afternoon,
we visit the interesting city of Phitsanuloke (approx. 60km east), to
view Wat Pra Mahathat Phitsanulok and a nearby museum. This temple complex,
which local people call “Wat Phra Si” or “Wat Yai”, contains one of Thailand’s
most revered and copied bronze Buddha images. This image is considered
by many Thais to be second in importance to the Emerald Buddha image in
Wat Phra Keo, in Bangkok’s Grand Palace. We then tour the city of Phitsanuloke,
before returning to Sukhothai. Dinner and overnight at the Pailyn Sukhothai
hotel.
DAY 2 : SUKHOTHAI (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the hotel. This tour is dedicated to the first capital
of ancient Siam; Sukhothai (literally meaning “rising of happiness”).
We visit this ancient town with its world-famous Unesco-rated historical
park, home to one of the largest collections of historical sites, 21 in
the near vicinity, with another 70 sites within a 5-km radius. The entire
complex is spread over an area of 45 sq km. We offer guests the option
to see all the sites. One option is to rent a bicycle to visit the vast
area of ancient ruins. Next stop will be the satellite-city of Sukhothai:
Sri Satchanalai, which contains some even bigger sites. Both cities played
an important role in the development of modern day Thailand. Lunch en
route at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at the Pailyn Sukhothai
hotel.
DAY 3 : SUKHOTHAI – CHIANG MAI (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to Sukhothai Airport for
flight PG 600 (10:50 – 11:25 hrs) to the “Rose of the North” Chiang Mai.
Then transfer to your centrally located Chiang Mai hotel for lunch. In
the afternoon, we visit one of most revered temples in Chiang Mai: Wat
Doi Suthep, located high in the mountains, where guests can enjoy a panoramic
view of Chiang Mai province. We then proceed to Lampoon to visit the magnificent
and oldest temple in Lampoon, Wat Prathat Haripoonchai, with its 46-metre
high golden chedi and the world’s largest bronze gong. We then visit a
White Karen Hill Tribe village, before we return back to Chiang Mai. Dinner
and overnight at the Chiang Mai Plaza hotel.
DAY 4 : CHIANG MAI (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to an elephant training camp
centre north of Chiang Mai where you will see a fascinating display of
these animals’ powerful logging skills. We continue on to a orchid and
butterfly farm. Lunch en route at a local restaurant. We then visit the
Home Industries Village at Bo Sang and San Kam Phaeng which is a major
centre for hand-woven Thai silk, traditional local products, antiques
from Myanmar (Burma) and hill tribe handicrafts and wood carvings. In
the evening, we offer a typical Kantoke dinner with various shows and
performances of the northern hill tribes. Overnight at the Chiang Mai
Plaza hotel.
DAY 5 : CHIANG MAI – BANGKOK (B)
American breakfast at the hotel. The morning is at leisure for a relaxing
stroll around Chiang Mai city centre, or the nearby Ping River. No lunch
included. Transfer from the hotel to the Chiang Mai International Airport
for flight to Bangkok.
