4 Days Off Road Chiangmai - Mae Hong Son Tour

DAY 1 : CHIANG MAI – MAE RIM AREA (L, D)
Early pick up from various Chiang Mai hotels, then drive out of city by a 4WD Land Rover to the Mae Rim district, a mere 20km north of Chiang Mai. We continue along a scenic highland road through teakwood plantations, where a stop will be made to visit a traditional Karen and Lisu Hill Tribe Village. A simple picnic lunch will be served among the beautiful environment of the Mok Fa Waterfalls. End the first day, arrive and check in at the Pa Deng Cabin Lodge, a picturesque location for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 : MAE RIM AREA – THAM LOD CAVES (B, L, D)

We start the second day with a hearty breakfast and a drive along a bumpy-logging road to one of the many hot springs in Thailand. Here, we spend the late morning, observing the evergreen jungle-park and simply relaxing. Stop for lunch in the charming town of Pai, prior to continuing eastwards to the renowned Tham Lod Caves for an afternoon of excellent caving activities. Dinner and overnight at a simple lodge, near the Tham Lod Caves.

DAY 3 : THAM LOD CAVES – MAE HONG SON (B, L, D)

Simple breakfast at the Lodge. We then drive to Mae Hong Son, the provincial capital of this part of Thailand. Via a small path, crossing the river, we reach a hidden elephant camp. Experience the ride of the ‘’4 x 4 jumbo’’ as we walk from the camp to the border village of the amazing Pa Dawng People, better known as the “Long Neck Karen”. We discreetly observe their lifestyle and customs. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant, before we reach our final overnight address. We then embark on a 1-hour boat trip along the lush green riverbank of the Pai River. Dinner and overnight stay at the deluxe Tara Mae Hong Son.

DAY 4 : MAE HONG SON – CHIANG MAI (B)

American breakfast at the hotel. An early morning trip takes us to the hilltop named Doi Kong Moo, overlooking the town, which gives us a view of the misty, and yet mystical valley. We then stroll around the bustling morning market of Mae Hong Son. No lunch included. Other stops can be made at several Shan-style temples along the way to the airport (when time permits and depending on the confirmed return flight back to Chiang Mai). From here, we transfer you to Mae Hong Son Airport for a mere 30 minutes flight to Chiang Mai. (No transfer included from Chiang Mai International Airport).
