DAY 1 : BANGKOK – SUKHOTHAI (L, D)
Pick up clients from Bangkok hotels and transfer to airport for flight
PG 600 (09:10-10:20 hrs) to Sukhothai Airport. Transfer to the Pailyn
Sukhothai hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we start our tour with a
visit to the interesting city of Phitsanuloke (approx. 60km east), to
see Wat Pra Mahathat Phitsanulok and a nearby museum. This temple complex,
called “Wat Phra Si” or “Wat Yai” by local people, contains one of Thailand’s
most revered and copied bronze Buddha images. This image is considered
by many Thais to be the second most important image in the kingdom after
the Emerald Buddha in Wat Phra Keo, in Bangkok’s Grand Palace. We also
visit Phitsanuloke, before returning back to Sukhothai. Dinner and overnight
at the Pailyn Sukhothai hotel.
DAY 2 : SUKHOTHAI (B, L, D)
American breakfast at the hotel. This tour is dedicated to the first capital
of ancient Siam; Sukhothai (literally meaning “rising of happiness”).
We visit this ancient town with its world-famous Unesco-rated historical
park, home to one of the largest collections of historical sites - 21
in the near vicinity, with another 70 sites within a 5-km radius. The
entire complex is spread over an area of 45 sq km. We offer guests the
option to see all the sites. One option is to rent a bicycle to visit
the vast area of ancient ruins. Next stop will be the satellite-city of
Sukhothai: Sri Satchanalai. This contains some even bigger historical
sites. Both cities played an important role in the development of modern
day Thailand. Lunch will be served en route at a local restaurant. In
the afternoon we return to Sukhothai. Dinner and overnight at the Pailyn
Sukhothai hotel.
