BOLIVIA - Authentic South America
Bolivia, the last AUTHENTIC country in South America, is well known for preserving its unique culture. Experience its supreme splendor, rich legacy, a mosaic of cultures and its dramatically diverse topography.
Bolivia is located in the heart of South America, bordered by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru and Chile. Its territory extends from the eternal snow-capped mountains of the Andes to the luxurious Amazon jungle and it is also known as the "Geographical Synthesis of the World". Due to its unique attractions and geographical location, it is a natural bridge between the four cardinal points for most South American programs.
When to go
Bolivia presents a full range of climates: cool on the highlands, mild in the valleys and warm on the flat lowlands. Generally, there are 3 months of rain (December - February), and 9 months of crystal blue skies and sunshine. In the highlands the climate is dry, which makes any temperature more comfortable.
What to see
La Paz, the worlds highest capital and main tourism destination with its unique Valley of the Moon. Tiwanaku - 72 km from La Paz is a remnant of the oldest American Civilisation (3000 years ). One of the best ways to experience Bolivia is to cross from Puno in Peru by hydrofoil across Lake Titicaca, the sacred lake of the Incas, and continue by coach to La Paz.
Oruro - the mining town of the high plateau known worldwide for its fantastic carnival. Potosi - historic city and symbol of colonial times.Uyuni Salt Lakes, a vast wilderness area which looks like an ocean of salt. Sucre, a colonial traditional city with a 16th century atmosphere. Tarija, a touch of Andalucia in the Southern part of Bolivia. The Madidi National Park in north west Bolivia protects a full array of tropical eco-systems providing the opportunity to experience the Amazon. Startling beauty with colonial and Inca influence in the Salta region.
